Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care
Our shared values underpin our ethos of supporting children and their families, within school and at home.
Pastoral care is provided firstly by the class teacher and learning support assistants, as they are the adults who have the most contact with the children. If a child is unhappy or their emotional wellbeing is affecting their learning then the parents and SENDCO/HT will be informed.
There are a number of ways that we can support children to help improve their emotional wellbeing such as:
- ELSA groups – an intervention for children who may need some help with emotional and social skills.
- Mindfulness – children are taught techniques to help them
- Social stories – for children who find self-awareness and understanding social expectations difficult.
We can also seek outside professional help such as support for young carers or for child bereavement.
